Recently a lot of people have been talking about how stressful and busy work has been lately. I want to encourage you to keep up the good work and to remain faithful to the calling God has upon your life. Yes, your job is God’s calling upon your life right now. Whether you are a janitor, construction worker, accountant, engineer, doctor, or teacher, God has placed you where He has you right now for a purpose. I have always found that if my goal in working is to discover this purpose and accomplish this purpose, then my job instantly becomes a joy. When does it not become a joy? When I create my own purpose, my boss creates my purpose, society creates my purpose, or anybody other than God creates my purpose. Seek God in your job and His purpose for why He placed you there and work diligently for that one purpose. Paychecks, job security, status, approval, are all secondary to what God wants for us…so don’t sweat the small stuff. God’s purpose is the important stuff.
