How different is the city of Seattle from the ancient city of Corinth? Corinth was regarded as a wealthy city, but had a dispersion of extremely wealthy to extremely poor. It was a port city, thus bringing a diverse mix of people from all backgrounds, ethnicity and culture. Corinth was a major tourist attraction and a stay there was regarded as a “participation in a joyous, continual celebration.” The Corinthian people loved their theater, art, music, and sporting events. They were highly spiritual and were known for their pluralism and worship of multiple gods such as Aphrodite, Apollo and Poseidon. Morality was notoriously corrupt in Corinth; sexual immorality, prostitution, and debauchery were common accepted practices. The Corinthians also loved philosophy. Discussions on wisdom and knowledge were a common occurrence. Corinth did have a Christian population, but it was heavily influenced by the culture and practices of the day.
Sound a little bit like Seattle??
