A Resume of Trials

How do you tell if somebody truly loves something or someone? How much time they spend on it? How much money they give to it? How much they talk about it? How big they smile about it? Perhaps the deciding factor to tell if we truly love something is if we love it when love is difficult–when it cost something dearly to love. Love that is always easy is really not a good testimony of love. It would be like going in for a job interview and the interviewer asking what computer skills we have and us proudly saying, “I check my email every day.” That’s easy though. It doesn’t really give testimony to our computer skills. Loving, when loving is difficult, gives testimony. Could it be that God brings situations in our life where we are hated, excluded, reviled and spurned so that we can adequately give testimony that we in fact love Jesus. If God is giving you trials right now, don’t fight them. Embrace them as an opportunity to show the world that you love Jesus; and not just when it’s easy to love Him, but when it’s difficult.
