Do What You Love

When does work cease to become work? Why are some activities considered work and others considered hobbies? Some activities are even considered both, like gardening. For some, canoeing would be hard work, while for others it would be relaxing. For some reading is a burden and for others it is enjoyment. So what is it that makes some activities chores and others hobbies and when does work cease to be work? I think the line is determined by personal satisfaction achieved or not achieved by any given activity. How do we view the work of the Lord as enjoyment and not a chore? Find satisfaction in doing it. But then this raises the question: How do we find satisfaction in doing anything? We find satisfaction in that which we value. So if we value relaxation, we will engage in whatever relaxes us. If we value excitement, we will engage in whatever excites us. Then the question becomes: Do we value the work of the Lord? Do we value the hungry being fed? Do we value people’s walk with Christ? Do we value lost people’s eternity?
