Does Prayer Work?

Anybody who has ever intently prayed for something or someone has asked this question-Does prayer work? The reality is that Christians pray for their unsaved loved ones to be saved and some die having never been born again. Some pray for their spouse who has cancer. The doctor says they have 6 months to live, and despite continual prayer, their spouse dies 6 months later. Some women pray, after repeated failed attempts, that they will be able to get pregnant, but God never opens their womb. Some pray that God will bring them a godly spouse, but after 35 years of singleness, God has still not brought them. Difficult situations like these, and many more, cause even the most spiritual Christians to ponder-Does prayer work? Does God really care about me and my situation; if he does, why doesn’t He answer my prayer? I cannot presume to speak on behalf of God. All I can do is quote Luke: “And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1). Even if you are doubting the efficacy of prayer, keep praying and do not lose heart. I choose to believe that prayer works, and even if it does not, I choose to believe it worked in another fashion.
