When we think about the words “Follow Me”, what comes to mind? There is a website called “Follow Me” which helps people manage health records. Twenty-two songs have the title “Follow Me”. There is also a book, a movie, and a documentary by this title. But perhaps the most common usage of “Follow Me” is with Twitter:”You can follow me at…”. The nice thing about Twitter is that you can choose who you want to follow and when you want to follow them. You are guaranteed to only get a small piece of information and it allows you to publicize your own promotions and ideas. Jesus’ call to follow Him is quite different however. He calls us to follow Him and only Him and to do it night and day. He doesn’t have any interesting pictures or jaw- dropping videos…just one long 66-book, 1189-chapter Tweet that we need to read, and read every day. And he tells us our tweets must be about promoting His Kingdom and not ours. May our hearts be less and less prioritized with following people and more and more passionate to follow Jesus.
