Freedom

Today we celebrate the freedom we have as Americans. We have freedom to vote, freedom of speech, freedom to worship, freedom to pursue happiness, freedom to be safe, freedom from tyranny. July 4, 1776 marks the beginning of freedom that we are still enjoying some 236 years later. But there is one freedom that was not secured on Independence Day, and it is the freedom from sin. This freedom was secured long before 1776 and we owe it to one person: Jesus Christ. If you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and you live for Him, then be encouraged that you have been set free from sin. Gal. 4:7 says that we are no longer slaves; we are sons and daughters of God. If you still have the shackles of sin on, let me remind you, they have been unlocked. All you have to do is take them off.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”–Jesus
