Why should we embrace and even love God’s discipline:
1. It saves us from being condemned along with the world (1 Cor. 11:32)
2. It keeps us humble (Lev. 26:18-19)
3. It means we are blessed (Job 5:17; Psalm 94:12)
4. It lets us know we are loved (Prov. 3:11-12; Rev. 3:19)
5. It tells us that we are God’s sons and daughters (Heb. 12:7)
6. It leads to our good and our holiness (Heb. 12:10)
7. It yields a peaceful fruit of righteousness (Heb. 12:11)
I’m so thankful that we have a God who loves us enough to discipline us. Many of our trials in life are in fact not unfortunate circumstances, but the discipline of the Lord. I pray that you will not despise the Lord’s discipline but embrace it, because He is treating you as sons and daughters that He loves very much. His discipline is making you and me holy which is a glorious thing because without holiness, none of us will see the Lord (Heb. 12:14).
