Most of us (myself included) spend our lives trying to prove ourselves to the world, in some shape, form, or fashion. We might employ a variety of means: humor, sports, jobs, education, marriage, clothes, technology, or knowledge. I often wonder, why we do this when God has told us that we are His treasured possession (Exod. 19:5; Deut. 7:6, 14:2, 26:18; Psalm 135:4; Mal. 3:17). You don’t need to prove yourself to anybody. If you are saved, God has already claimed you. The God who made humor, sports, jobs, education, marriage, clothes, technology, and knowledge has already said that you are his possession…and not just His possession, but His treasured possession. We have nothing more to prove.
