“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Heb. 4:15
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Cor. 10:13
Some great truths come out of these passages:
1. Jesus knows and understands the battle we are going through, no matter how small or how large. He is able to help us defeat our sin, because He DID defeat it.
2. We are always able to stand up under the temptation. God provides a way out…from pride, lust, envy, selfishness, greed, etc….every time, if we but look for it.
Jesus fought his temptations with the Word of God. This is why I believe if we are ever going to leave our life of sin, it begins with reading and knowing the Word of God.
