Love and Truth

It is no secret that it is becoming more and more difficult to stand up for truth. As Christians we have the enormous task of balancing the command to “love people” (including our enemies) and the command to “preach the word…reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” I want to encourage you this week to not preach a Gospel that is void of love, but to also not preach a Gospel that is void of repentance. Standing for truth is not automatically loving, because our hearts and motives matter. But letting people go their own way is not automatically loving either, because love always wants what is best (as defined by God) for the other person. So if I may encourage you this week: love people, and in doing so, stand for truth. And stand for truth, and in doing so, love people.
