Nine Truths about Selfishness

I am typically not a fan of non-Christian publications, but I read a secular blog online about selfishness that I found interesting. A lady summarized nine truths about selfishness, from a non-Christian perspective, and I want to share them with you:

1. Everyone is selfish sometimes.

2. If you think you deserve to be canonized as a saint, then you are selfish.

3. It’s selfish to call someone else selfish.

4. Selflessness breeds happiness. Selfishness breeds unhappiness.

5. Selflessness can be scary (it requires us to be vulnerable).

6. If you think some people deserve your help, but others don’t, there’s still a lot of selfishness in you.

7. Sometimes its selfless to be selfish (it’s unhealthy to completely drain ourselves).

8. Sometimes it’s seemingly selfish to be selfless (we can’t help everybody).

9. It’s selfless to forgive people for calling you selfish.
