I know not everybody works, but this applies to you whether you are working now or will work someday.
In our jobs this week, I pray you will consider these verses: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward.” (Col. 3:23-24)
For some of you, working for your boss may not be pleasant or easy. But I want to encourage you to not think of yourself first and foremost as an employee, but as a servant of the Lord. Let your relationship with God dictate your relationship with your boss, not the other way around. If we work for the Lord and not for men, our jobs immediately become a joy. And in the end, no matter how much we may have been mistreated, over-worked, talked down to, misunderstood, underpaid, overlooked, or under-appreciated, God has promised to give us our final “paycheck”: Eternal Life.
