I want to encourage you this week to not be timid in standing for the truth. Often we shy away from this practice because we have seen so many people stand for the truth, but do it out of arrogance and/or being a jerk. Two passages in Ephesians come to mind: “Speak the truth in love and expose unfruitful works of darkness.” Therefore, it is possible to stand up for what is right and truthful and yet be loving at the same time. When you hear family, friends, co-workers say things that are erroneous, the tendency can be to say, “well, I hope they discover the truth someday, or I hope somebody shows them the truth.” Perhaps you and I are just that vessel. We take stances on things like politics, family, laws, sports team preferences, foods we like, best restaurants, and clothes…we should also take a stance on the truth of Jesus Christ and His Word.
