Throughout the centuries, many people have attempted to disprove the belief that Jesus rose from the dead. The most common objection to the resurrection is that the entire account was fabricated. If the story was made up, consider these facts. The earliest witnesses to Jesus’ resurrection were women. In first century Judaism, women’s testimonies were not admissible in court. So if you were going to make up a story, why have women as your primary witnesses? More than 500 eyewitnesses reported seeing Jesus alive after he had died and this number included those who were not a part of Jesus original disciples. If any event took place today and 500 people could verify they saw the event, it would be recorded as history by any standard. All of the disciples were willing to give their lives as martyrs because they believed Christ had died. One has to wonder if they made this story up, would they still be willing to die as a martyr?
