I wanted to share with you something we were learning last week at Exejesus. We often think of God as being our inheritance; that when we die, our special prize is God. This is true…however, we are God’s inheritance as well. We are His special prize too. God speaks of Israel in the O/T as being His treasured possession (Exod. 19:5; Deut. 7:6, 14:2, 26:18; Mal. 3:17). In the N/T Paul writes, “In Christ we too have been claimed as God’s own possession” Eph. 1:11–NET. This is a beautiful picture of a God who predestined us, died for us, created us, loved us, forgave us, bought us, adopted us, and secures us so that He can be our possession and we can be His. All of human history, 6000+ years, has been about this one story–God creating and redeeming a people for Himself. What an amazing God we serve.
