What Jesus Values

I was reading in the Gospel this morning how Jesus healed, on the Sabbath, a woman who had a disabling spirit which caused her to be bent over for eighteen years. It occurred to me that He did this because He valued the woman more than the Sabbath. This is a pattern that Jesus displayed all throughout his life. He valued the children more than His teaching time. He valued a bleeding woman more than being thought unclean. He valued a Samaritan woman more than cultural acceptability. He valued prostitutes more than what religious leaders thought about Him. He valued the crowds more than His desire to get rest. He valued a criminal on a cross more than His own pain and suffering. I am immensely humbled and challenged by what Jesus values. He values you, even if you don’t feel like it. He values you, even if you don’t value Him. He values you even if you don’t value yourself. He values you because His love is not based on you but on Himself.
