It’s been nice to be back in Alabama with family and friends, but I am ready to be home with my church family. Ten things I have learned from our trip:
1. There’s a comfort and ease being with family and friends. But I am reminded that the Gospel does not call us to comfort and ease. It calls us to something greater than this life.
2. We could not have made the trip without the help of Chris and Lisa. I am reminded of the immense value of having people who are willing to serve and give of themselves so selflessly.
3. The sunshine was nice, but the heat was not (at least for me). I am reminded that in every cloud, there is a silver lining.
4. The last job on the planet I would want is to be a full time stay at home mom. I am reminded that I am married to the most amazing woman on the planet (no offense ladies).
5. Lauren’s parents served us with such joy. I am reminded that service goes a long way, but attitude goes even further.
6. The South is so different from Seattle and Seattle so different from the South. I am reminded that God’s heart is diverse and therefore ours must be.
7. Lauren and I were able to go to the beach, with no children, and it was so peaceful to spend time with God with no noise. I am reminded that finding God is so much easier with no noise and no distractions.
8. I went to the wedding of my sister, who desperately needs the Lord. But I am reminded that I am only saved and only have anything good in my life because of the grace of God.
9. I saw such joy in my children’s eyes as they did new things and experienced new adventures. I am reminded that whether we are parents or not, everyone can bring joy to someone young just by taking time to play with them.
10. I missed serving in ministry and doing what I love. I am reminded of how much I love you and miss being a part of your life, even if it’s just a week.
I am ready to be home with my church family.
